Snack Shack - Team Requirements for 2021

The HVLL Sluggers Snack Shack serves as an important source of revenue for our league, but also keeps our players and fans happy!  In the past, we have requested/required volunteers from each team to staff it or to pay a "buy-out" fee for which we could secure additional help. Moving forward, each team is required to pay a Sluggers Snack Shack operating fee in order to substantially simplify the process, ensure that we always have coverage and reduce the number of people coming and going.

  • Farm - Majors = $100 per team

  • Tee-Ball = $50 per team

Please put payment in an envelope (labeled with the division and team name) and submit directly to Cathi Jensen, Snack Shack Coordinator, by May 1, 2021. *If paying by check, make it payable to HVLL and include the division/team name in the memo line.

Team Umpire Assignments

In the past, (with the exception of those in the Lower Tee-Ball division), each team was responsible for providing umpires for a number of games at various levels during the season.  Traditionally, teams did not provide umpires for their own games, but rather for games in divisions other than their own.  

In an effort to streamline the process during this unprecented year, each team in Majors, and Minors A/B/C will be responsible to umpire or provide umpires for their own games during the 2021 Spring Season.  The Home Team takes plate responsibilities, while the Visiting Team does the bases.  If using youth umpires, there still needs to be an adult umpire on the field as well, meaning there cannot be two youth umpires at the same game unless a designated adult is present.

GAME SCORES and HOME RUNS

Game results and scores will be posted on HVLL.org for MAJORS, MINOR A and MINOR B divisions.  

After each game, it is the responsibility of the Home Team to send the results to [email protected]. Please include the following:

  • Date
  • Division
  • Competing Teams
  • Final Score

HOME RUN HITTERS: Please also report any over the fence home runs (along with a photo) so we can capture the magic on the web site and the HVLL Wall of Fame located on the side of the Snack Shack.

SCORE-KEEPING & PITCH-COUNTING - Team Volunteers

Some important reminders: 

It is typically required that the Scorekeeper (Home Team) and the Pitch Counter (Visitor) for all divisions (with the exception of Farm, where there is no score booth or pitch-counter) occupy the "score booth" for the duration of the game.  However, due to social distancing requirements, only the scorekeeper may occupy the score booth during the 2021 Spring Season and will also work the scoreboard.  Pitch-counters must sit outside the booth.

For Minor C, you may either bring your own chair or there are folding chairs available in the dugouts and the books (score and pitch-count) are located in the Farm equipment shed adjacent to the snack bar.

Pursuant to the HVLL By-laws, Section XIII:

  1. Each manager must supply the Scorekeeper, at least 15 minutes prior to game start time, with:
     - The team lineup, including uniform number, full name and position(s) scheduled to be played for each inning for each player.
     - A list of absentee players, along with reason for absence, if known, and players who are being disciplined.

  2. Each Manager is to supply the opposing Manager, at least 15 minutes prior to game time, with their starting lineup and the players’ positions for the first inning.

  3. Each Manager must declare pitching eligibility prior to the start of each game, by supplying the pitching eligibility roster to the official scorekeeper.

  4. Each Manager must report all substitutions and changes to the official scorekeeper when they are made. Changes include any time the actual position being played by a player differs from the position scheduled to be played by that player as presented in the lineup supplied to the official scorekeeper prior to the game.
