COVID-19 League Update #4

Hello HVLL Families,

I wanted to provide another update for all of you.  It seems information on the shut down and Covid 19 changes daily and as such, there continue to be many unknowns.

First, as indicated in my last update, the current target date for the resumption of our baseball season continues to be June 1st.   However, getting confirmation that we will be able to play baseball starting on this date has been difficult.  This week alone, I have had multiple contacts with the city and the OC Health department and no one seems to know what or when our governor will loosen the restrictions.  As such, we are preparing for the best case scenario, but are trying to remain flexible.  As we get closer to that date, the harder it will be to execute on it.

I know this is frustrating.  If it helps, you are not alone.  All other youth sports programs in California are all feeling the same pain.  In a truly bad example, another little league in the past week was told that their fields were no longer closed, only to be told a few days later that while they were open, they were not to be used for baseball practices or games.  Talk about a head spin.

Second, please know that the board remains committed to having a baseball season.  We have been busy working through additional safety protocols and coordinating additional supplies that will be required with the goal to play as much baseball as we can throughout the summer.

Third, please respect the fact that all City of Huntington Beach fields/facilities are shut down through the end of May, and as such our fields remain closed.

I will update everyone again as soon as there is more updated information

Until then, I hope you and your family remain safe and healthy.

Blessings,

Tim Stone
